Good weavers! how are you today?
I bring you a new Crochet Cropped Top design that you are going to love! It is special for those who want to knit something fast, with few materials and SUPER SEXY!
We start with the materials:
-This top is knitted with 100gr or less! I made the size M (for bust 84cm). I chose 100% cotton yarn because it is my favorite for knitting summer garments.
-Crochet needle number 4.5mm and 3.mm
-Marker
-Wool sewing needle
-Centimeter
We start! Good knitting knitters :)
We start by measuring our size at the height of the bust. In my case it was 84cm so I'm going to knit a 42cm piece (half my bust measurement).
To knit this piece we begin knitting chains with our 4.5mm needle until, stretching, we reach 42cm. Why stretching? because we want the top to fit the body and the fabric will stretch as we knit.
Once I made the necessary chains to reach 42cm I count them! The final number has to give us a multiple of 2 + 1 (in my case I had 60 + 1 = 61 chains left).
The pattern of work or drawing is as follows:
- H1: I pick up 2 chains and knit a mv in the 3rd chain (half double crochet), *I skip 1 chain and knit 2 mv in the next stitch. Repeat from * until the end of the row.
- H2: I pick up 2 chains and knit a mv (half double crochet) at the same starting point, *I skip 1 chain and knit 2 mv in the next stitch. Repeat from * until the end of the row. (I don't use the starting chains of the previous row as a base so I don't knit over them)
I repeat these steps until I reach the length of my top that I want.
Here I leave the video for you to check this part in case you have any doubts.
In my case I knit 15cm long and then I start to work the neckline and armhole at the same time. For the armhole, discount 4 cm on each side, in my case there are 8 stitches.
So once I knitted the 15cm (or the length you want) I divide the piece into two equal parts and put a marker.
I continue as follows:
- R1: I chain 1, make 8 sl st (slip stitch or passed stitch) through the back loop of each stitch from the previous row. This is to mark the armhole. (you can watch the video to make sure you are doing it right :) ). Then I raise 2 chains, *I skip 1 stitch and I knit two mv in the next stitch (here we already started with the decreases to form the neckline part). I repeat from * until I reach point 19 (counting from the chains that I pick up). Then I skip 1 stitch and weave a sv into the next stitch.
- R2: I pick up 2 chains, *I skip 1 stitch and knit 2 mv in the next stitch. I repeat from * until I have 2 free stitches, I skip 1 stitch and weave 1 mv in the next stitch (the chains at the beginning of each round are not taken into account as stitches).
I repeat these steps until I have 3 stitches on the row. And from here we begin to weave the strips of our top!
To make the strips of the top we are going to use the crochet cord technique using 3 loops and we do it with the 3mm crochet hook.
- So from where we are we turn the fabric, adjust the thread to the new needle and click on the next stitch, make a loop, pass it through the stitch that was clicked and repeat with the third stitch. We have 3 stitches left on our needle. The next thing is to take 2 stitches from our needle and we knit the first, then the second, then the third. I repeat this process until I have the length of strips that I want! Between 1m 50cm and 1m 70cm more or less.
Now we repeat for the second part of the neckline. In this case, instead of starting from the armhole, we start from the neckline to respect that the first row is the right side as with the part that we already knitted.
- So we start clicking the 6th stitch counting from the last stitch of the first row of the other part of the neckline, we chain 2, we skip 1 stitch, in the next we do 2 mv, and we repeat until we have 10 free stitches left. We skip 1 and do 1 mv in the next point. I repeat the steps again until I have 3 stitches and then we proceed with the lace.
Ready! Top finished knitters. All that remains is to hide the threads and pass the strap on the back
